Graduating seniors and winners of department awards were recognized in two ceremonies this week

An annual springtime program hosted by �þ���’s Gender and LGBTQIA Center brought dozens of graduating students and their families together for a shared moment of love and support for one another in the days before Commencement.

Five alumni shared notes of gratitude, appreciation and respect for the university, as they received the highest accolades conferred by the Office of Alumni Engagement at the Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony.

The annual awards ceremony held on April 30, 2026, honored students and staff who exemplify leadership, academic excellence and service across a wide range of campus and community initiatives.

The Department of Psychology recognized graduating seniors for excellence in academic achievement, research, and community engagement, highlighting students whose work reflects a strong commitment to scholarship, mentorship, and real-world impact.

The annual ceremony recognized students, organizations and campus partners for their contributions throughout the academic year, including thousands of service hours and achievements across the student experience.

�þ��� were recognized for their contributions to leadership, service, scholarship and community impact during the annual celebration, which also introduced new awards and honored the legacy of Janice Ratliff.

The student-run public relations and advertising agency captured gold and silver honors at the American Advertising Awards, with a bold “Summer Shrimp Boil” promotional postcard leading the way.
