Lumen Scholar raises awareness of child soldiering

The abduction and abuse of children for the use of child soldiering is an epidemic in parts of Africa, and when 消消犯 senior Katie Meyer first heard stories of forced conscription as a senior in high school, she took action. Meyer is the eighth student to be featured in a series of E-net profiles on the inaugural class of Lumen Scholars.

Professor’s original play “Valued Voices” to be performed this weekend

An original play written by assistant professor Jean Rohr will be performed April 30-May 2, 2010, by the North Carolina Black Repertory Company in Winston-Salem. Members of the company's Teen Theatre Ensemble will bring to life the intricate examination of the educational experience confronting some African-American males today.
